In 1990, a couple who had a view to one day building their own house bought a holiday home, Ashmore Cottage, within walking distance of picturesque Leenane village.
They liked the location on the shores of Killary Harbour, a 16km long fjord between the Maamturk and Maamtrasna mountains, so much they decided it was the perfect place for their dream home.
