When Gay Mitchell won the Fine Gael presidential nomination in July, much was made of his alleged short fuse and the provocation he might encounter on the campaign trail.
Mitchell spent the next three months avoiding trouble, but on The Dunphy Show (Newstalk 106-108) last Sunday, in a head-to-head with his rival Martin McGuinness, all that good work was undone in one surreal hour.
