Up to five potential candidates have been suggested for consideration to Taoiseach Brian Cowen to replace Ireland’s EU Commissioner Charlie McCreevy.

Up to five potential candidates have been suggested for consideration to Taoiseach Brian Cowen to replace Ireland’s EU Commissioner Charlie McCreevy.

Pat Cox, former president of the European Parliament, is in close contention with former Fianna Fail MEP Eoin Ryan for the nomination. A potential candidate for the post may be senior counsel and former Attorney General Rory Brady.
