Rabbitte's media attack signals Labour's woe

When ministers complain about the media, it is a sign they are in trouble, writes Tom McGurk.

In a newspaper interview last Friday, communications minister Pat Rabbitte attacked the Irish media for what he called its "all-pervasive negativity, that is not helping the mood of people in distress and difficulty". He said the media continued its "relentless denigration of politics, which was having an adverse effect on society".

As this was coming from a minister whose brief extends across all levels of the media, including the press and national broadcasting, I suppose...
