“We can’t escape scot-free in circumstances where Portugal and Greece have a very heavy imposition on them,” said Rabbitte.

Communications and energy minister Pat Rabbitte said that he expects Minister for Public Expenditure Brendan Howlin to present his position to the Government on the sale of state assets “sooner rather than later.”

Howlin is likely to present his plans to the Government at the next Troika review in under 3 months time, Rabbitte said in an interview on RTÉ.

“Nothing has come to Government yet on this,” he said.
