Q2 construction performance best since 2006

UPDATE: The volume of output in building and construction increased by 11.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2013, compared to the same quarter in 2012.

New CSO figures suggest a recovery is underway in the decimated construction sector.

Researchers have welcomed new data as showing a marked improvement in conditions in the construction sector in the second quarter.

Output in the sector was up 1.7 per cent over the quarter and 11.2 per cent over the year, the Central Statistics Office said yesterday.

Davy Research noted this was the highest annual rate of growth since 2006.
