Punchestown Festival to bring in €64m

Some 100,000 visitors are expected at this year's Punchestown Festival, generating up to €64 million for the local economy.

Seventeen former Cheltenham and Aintree winners will race at the five-day event, which kicks off this Tuesday in Naas, Co Kildare, with a prize fund of €2.5 million.

Some 15,000 corporate tickets have been sold this year, up 12 per cent, and bookings from British visitors have also risen - up by 20 per cent.
