Public must face its own reality

Politicians may be to blame for much of our current predicament, but we also have to meet our responsibilities and accept that we all have a role to play in implementing a solution.

The economic crisis is leading to an utter failure of politics in this country, but the blame for that lies not just at the door of politicians. The public has also refused to face reality.

Despite the government’s repeated denials - albeit in the face of overwhelming evidence and advice - it has, in recent weeks, admitted that an emergency budget will be necessary, and the date has now been set for April 7.
