Companies are becoming more innovative when it comes to trying to win custom and ensure that business is buoyant during the downturn.

Tonic bar in south county Dublin is one of a number of pubs using marketing promotions and quirky initiatives to keep its tills ringing.

Following customer feedback, the Blackrock bar’s owners struck a deal with a local taxi company so that patrons travelling to and from Tonic get a 30 per cent discount....
