Providence may be forced to restrict oil drill off Dalkey

Plans by Providence Resources to drill for oil off the south Dublin coastline may be curtailed due to environmental concerns raised by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

Providence Resources has applied for a foreshore licence to drill for oil six kilometres off the coast of Dalkey. The area is home to some of the capital's wealthiest people, a number of whom are opposed to the plan.
