Proposal to free Shannon Airport from DAA control

Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar is expected to bring a proposal to cabinet "very soon'' to give Shannon Airport its independence from Dublin Airport Authority (DAA).

Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar is expected to bring a proposal to cabinet "very soon" to give Shannon Airport its independence from Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), it is understood.

It is expected that the airport will remain within public ownership but outside of DAA's structure, as was recommended last year in a report by consultants Booz into the airport's future.
