Property group falls into receivership with €60m debts

A property group that controls the luxury Tinakilly House hotel in Co Wicklow has gone into receivership with bank debts of almost €60 million. Ulster Bank has installed Ernst & Young as receivers

A property group that controls the luxury Tinakilly House hotel in Co Wicklow has gone into receivership with bank debts of almost €60 million.

Ulster Bank has installed Ernst & Young as receivers to three related companies owned by builder Brendan Fitzsimons and auctioneer Bill Mulrooney. They bought Tinakilly, a Victorian mansion with 51 rooms, for about €10 million in 2007, but their group has been hit by the collapse of the property market.
