Property developers win in Great Southern sell-off

Many investors, property developers and international hotel chains submitted tenders for the eight Great Southern hotels, which had been owned by the state for a number of years.

The sale of the chain had been mooted for some time but had proved to be politically sensitive.

Independent TD Jackie Healy-Rae effectively blocked any sell-off during the term of the last government.
