Probe into pensioner tax receipts widens

Revenue fficials are still combing over the records of thousands of people who are receipt of two pensions to see if they have a tax liability, writes Ian Kehoe.

It caused a public outrage, dominated the political agenda and forced the chairwoman of the Revenue Commissioners to do something remarkable for a public servant: apologise.

However, some 18 months after the public brouhaha, officials from the Revenue Commissioners are still combing over the records of thousands of people who are receipt of two pensions to see if they have a tax liability.
