Private bank bucks the trend

HSBC’s Irish private banking operation has seen significant growth in its deposit base, writes Dick O’Brien

While most of the Irish banking sector is on virtual life support, a few recent entrants have been making serious inroads into the private banking market.

HSBC’s Irish private banking operation has shown notable levels of growth since it set up shop in 2008. Its assets under management increased by 75 per cent in 2010, and client numbers were up by 67 per cent in the same period.
