A legal bid to force the government to hold a referendum on the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) treaty will get under way in the High Court this week.

Senior counsel acting for Donegal South West independent TD Thomas Pringle will lodge an application to the court seeking to prevent the government from ratifying the ESM treaty through legislation in July.
