Primark pins hopes on fast fashion to crack US market

Boston beachhead will be in the former Filene's department store

Some omens are not auspicious for Primark’s entry into the United States, which was announced with much fanfare last week.

The building that will house the first store, in Boston, was once home to the famed Filene’s department store, where even the bargain basement fathered its own chain called, predictably, Filene’s Basement. Both those operations are now out of business.
