The cost of a price of Guinness looks set to rise by 10 cents after Diageo, the brewer’s parent company, raised its prices for publicans.

A spokeswoman for Diageo said that the price increase was “in line with inflation”, but referenced the EU’s 2.5 per cent rate rather than Ireland’s 1.6 per cent. This would equate to 10 cents, based on the CSO's estimate of the average pint of Guinness, which is €3.99....
