Despite one of the most intensive lobbying campaigns TDs can remember, Minister for Health Mary Harney will push ahead with proposed cuts to fees paid to pharmacists on Saturday.

At a private meeting with Fianna Fail TDs and junior ministers last week, Harney indicated that, while she would consider representations on behalf of the pharmacists, she intended to press on with reducing the price the HSE pays pharmacists for drugs dispensed to medical card patients.
