Potential C&C bidders should hold their water

There is renewed speculation about the drinks company being taken over, but suitors will want to see how it performs in key markets first, writes Richard Curran.

C&C has to be commended for managing costs and handling price points well in tough markets.

If I had a euro for every newspaper report that suggested C&C was going to be taken over, I'd have enough cash to buy quite a few pints of Bulmers. There has been speculation in recent days, yet again, that two companies were running the rule over the company.

The speculation mentioned that two international drinks groups, SAB Miller and Carlsberg, had expressed an interest. C&C chief executive Stephen Glancey declined to comment...
