Pope to address Catholics on abuse response
Pope Benedict is to issue a pastoral letter to Catholics in Ireland setting out the initiatives to be taken by the Church in response to the Murphy Report on clerical child abuse in Dublin, writes Kieron Wood.
The Pope met Cardinal Sean Brady; Dublin’s archbishop, Diarmuid Martin; papal nuncio Archbi shop Giuseppe Leanza; and high ranking members of the Roman Curia - including the Secretary of State - last Friday to discuss the ‘‘traumatic events’’ set out in the Murphy Report.
