A few lucky Irish punters are today celebrating the election of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio as Pope Francis, according to Paddy Power.
The Argentinian cardinal came from nowhere to be elected pope after just five votes by 115 cardinals in conclave in Rome.
Initially, the odds against the South American Jesuit were 66-1, but after a few people backed him for successor to Pope Benedict XVI, the odds were cut to 33-1.
