Dublin City Council officials have told councillors that they should not list for preservation the Pigeon House chimneys in Poolbeg in Dublin 4, writes Neil Callanan.

The council said that, while the chimneys were ‘‘considered to be of a certain level of architectural, social and historical significance’’, they were not of ‘‘sufficient value’’ in planning law to justify their inclusion on the record of protected structures.
