Almost seven out of ten people believe that some level of debt write-down is the fairest approach to tackle mortgage debt, according to figures from an exclusive *Sunday Business Post*/Coyne Research study of attitudes to mortgages and debt.

The study on mortgage debt found that there was a belief that some level of debt write-down is both fair, and necessary, if Ireland's economy is to recover.
