The Honda CR-V, launched in October 1995, was last updated in autumn 2004 to include Honda's 2.2-litre common-rail diesel engine. Up until then only petrol engined models were available in the CR-V range. With diesel engines dominating the fast-growing SUV segment, Honda was clearly at a disadvantage.
