Planning permissions drop in third quarter

New data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO)has revealed a significant drop in planning permissions granted during the third quarter of 2012, when compared with the same period a year earlier.

The data revealed a 34.8 per cent drop in the number of dwelling units approved. In the third quarter of 2012, planning permissions were granted for 1,638 dwelling units, compared with 2,512 units for the same period in 2011.
