Motorists are set to be given a “last chance” to pay their penalty points fine to avoid being hauled before the courts.
Under the current system, motorists have 28 days to pay their initial €80 fine. If they do not pay up in time, they have a further 28 days to pay an increased fine of €120 unless they want to be brought before the courts for an even bigger fine.
