Secreted away at the farthest reach of a sinuous rugged track, or boreen, a few kilometres outside the picturesque village of Sneem in Co Kerry is Mermaid Isle, an understated 25-acre oceanfront retreat comprising a house, a cottage, an island, 12 acres of mainland and three acres of turbary.
