Pharmacy bill structures a year away

The Competition Authority has said that aspects of the proposed pharmacy legislation do not go far enough to address competition issues in the retail pharmacy sector.

The Competition Authority has said that aspects of the proposed pharmacy legislation do not go far enough to address competition issues in the retail pharmacy sector.

The authority gave many of the proposals from Minister for Health Mary Harney a cautious welcome. However, a spokesman said the rule that effectively prevents foreign-trained pharmacists from opening new pharmacy shops should be “abolished tomorrow'‘.
