Analysts have predicted that shares in the world's largest pharmaceutical firms with manufacturing plants in Ireland could be on the mend, after earnings reports showed them getting to grips with the worst industry slump in years.

Analysts have predicted that shares in the world's largest pharmaceutical firms with manufacturing plants in Ireland could be on the mend, after earnings reports showed them getting to grips with the worst industry slump in years.

Merck, Abbott Laboratories and Wyeth, which account for a third of the 17,000 jobs in Irish drug manufacturing, have reported cheering third-quarter results in the last fortnight.
