Pfizer to close Little Island plant

UPDATE: Pfizer is to close its Little Island plant in Cork, which currently employs 136 people.

Pfizer to sell Little Island site.

Pfizer is to close its Active Primary Ingredients (API) Little Island plant in Cork, which currently employs 136 people.

The company said products manufactured at the Little Island site would relocate to its Ringaskiddy site during 2014.

The move was "part of its global efforts to better align manufacturing capacity in response to reducing volumes following patent expiration of some medicines".
