French drinks giant Pernod Ricard is leading in the contest for the control of its British counterpart, Allied Domecq.

French drinks giant Pernod Ricard is leading in the contest for the control of its British counterpart, Allied Domecq.

US wine merchant Constellation Brands approached Allied Domecq last weekend, but has not made a formally priced offer to its shareholders yet.

It has also been rumoured that world leader Diageo could launch a counter-offer, although competition implications would mean that Guinness's parent company could only keep a small number of brands in the Allied Domecq...
