Following the enactment of Section 28 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2008, new legislation regarding formal trustee training has applied to all pension scheme trustees since February last year.

By January 31, 2012 all pension trustees will be required by law to have undergone formal trustee training, and newly appointed trustees must receive training within six months of their appointment in order to comply with new regulatory requirements.
