The departure of Tom Parlon from politics leaves an obvious void for the remnants of the Progressive Democrats.

Parlon had been considered the only obvious candidate for the leadership, following the departure of Michael McDowell after he lost his seat in the general election.

Though working from the Senate, Parlon’s energy and campaigning abilities might have given the party a fighting chance of resurrecting itself after the electoral wipe-out.
