They've gone back to being workhorses first and foremost, and lifestyle choices a distant second. Indeed, a farming industry on the up is responsible for the vast majority of new 4x4s bought - and most of them are classed as commercials.

That explains why Mitsubishi Ireland reckons that 90 per cent of its Pajero sales will be of commercial vehicles.
