Pace of construction industry contraction slows - PMI

The construction industry is still contracting, although at a lower rate than in previous months, according to the latest Ulster Bank Construction purchasing managers’ index.

The construction industry is still contracting, although at a lower rate than in previous months, according to the latest Ulster Bank Construction purchasing managers’ index.

The index stood at 47.7 in November. Anything below 50 indicates contraction in the sector. The November figure is an improvement on October when the index stood at 45.2 and September, when it stood at 40.1.

For housing activity the index stood at 47.7, commercial activity stood at 49.0 and civil engineering activity...
