Over 3,000 junior doctors picket hospitals

Over 3,000 junior doctors have taken strike action at 51 Irish hospitals today in protest over working conditions.

The doctors, all members of the Irish Medical Organisation, have reduced their services to Sunday levels of care. There are pickets at all major hospitals.

Some 15,000 patients are being affected with operations and appointments to be delayed.
