The total number of mechanically propelled vehicles in Ireland at year end 2005 was 2,138,680, according to the latest statistics from the Department of the Environment.

The total number of mechanically propelled vehicles in Ireland at year end 2005 was 2,138,680, according to the latest statistics from the Department of the Environment.

This is an increase of some 102,000 units over the position at the end of 2004, a rise of 5 per cent.

Private cars, at 1,662,157 units, take up by far the largest segment and here numbers are up from 1,582,833 in the previous year. The total number of school buses on Ireland’s roads...
