More than one person in four dies without leaving a will - and the number is growing.

More than one person in four dies without leaving a will - and the number is growing.

According to new statistics, 17,141 grants were issued nationwide last year by the Probate Office and the 14 district registries.

Of those, 4,675 (or 27 per cent) were intestacies, or estates where the deceased left no will. The balance of 12,466 cases were wills admitted to probate.
