I welcome Eoin Talpey (letters 1/4/ 07) highlighting the concern of former German president Roman Herzog to the ‘‘huge number of EU laws that are automatically incorporated into the legislation of member states’’.

The Economist magazine reported this as in excess of 80 per cent in Germany. Are we aware of the extent of such in our legislation?

Mr Talpey estimated that our fishery has been exploited by the EU to an estimated sum...
