The chief executive of the country's largest media-buying group welcomed the appointment of Sean O'Rourke to Pat Kenny's former slot on RTE Radio.

The chief executive of the country's largest media-buying group welcomed the appointment of Sean O'Rourke to Pat Kenny's former slot on RTE Radio yesterday, but warned that the station urgently needed to grow younger presenters.

"RTE needs to start thinking about the next generation of presenters or it risks running out of road; it needs to start recruiting the next tranche of listeners, younger listeners," said Alan Cox of Core Media.
