The Ombudsman has warned about “blatant abuses” of the planning system including the building of a private airstrip without permission.

In an interview with *The Sunday Business Post,* Peter Tyndall said there were regular complaints about the lack of planning enforcement by city and county councils.

“We see cases of quite blatant abuses of the planning system which local authorities don’t act on,” he said.
