Ombudsman says financial services complaints rising

More customers complained about financial institutions in the first half of 2012 and more complaints were upheld, according to the latest review from Financial Services Ombudsman Bill Prasifka.

More customers complained about financial institutions in the first half of 2012 and more complaints were upheld, according to the latest review from Financial Services Ombudsman Bill Prasifka.

The review shows that 3,700 complaints were received in first half of 2012, a five per cent increase on the last 6 months of 2011.

Forty per cent of complaints against banks relate to mortgages, with ‘tracker’ rate issues, maladministration and repayments terms the main areas of complaint.
