Batt O’Keeffe, the Minister for Education, is to meet business groups to discuss the poor take-up of higher level maths at second-level.

This week, the minister will write to employers’ body Ibec and its high-tech division, ICT Ireland, requesting to meet them over the issue, which has been described as a ‘‘crisis’’ for the education sector.
