Offaly farm for sale with a sheikh for a neighbour
Some 13 years ago, in October 2005, long-established Portarlington auctioneer Matt Dunne sold a 217 acre residential farm for €4.2 million, or €19,500 per acre.
It was a record price for Offaly land at the time. According to the agent, about 200 people turned up for the auction and the eventual buyer was Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Now Dunne has been instructed to sell a 91 acre farm...
