Our attitude to alcohol has long been a problem, and one initiative which could make a difference is banning the industry's sponsorship of sports events, writes Catherine O'Mahony.

Every Friday morning I step gingerly through Dublin's city centre at 5.30am. I have an early start at work and my short route takes me past some of the hotspots of the city's nightlife, the sort of places where sportsmen and pretty models might mingle with the usual throng.
