Tim Kretschmer had the kind of face that people describe as unremarkable. Full-lipped and bespectacled, with a pale complexion, it occupied the precise midway point on the spectrum between handsome and ugly. He looked like the kind of boy who liked to pop into his granny’s for Sunday lunch; a boy with nothing much more than computer games, table tennis and girls on his mind.
