There’s an entertaining series of online videos on Youtube that analyses the way female characters are portrayed in video games.

Not being familiar with many games that involve actual human-style women characters – other than the predictably pneumatic Lara Croft – I have been interested and amused to see such figures categorised into various “tropes” such as “female in the background”, “mercy killing” “damsel in distress”, “damsel in the refrigerator” and “disposable damsel”....
