The world's best fans, but of what? In Ireland, sport is synonymous with drinking alcohol, so maybe it is time to sever the link between the two, writes Jennifer O'Connell.

I have a confession to make. I am one of the (according to Census 2011) 4.83 people in the country who have no interest in organised sport. Or even disorganised sport, which is a term that might better apply to Ireland's Euro 2012 campaign.
