Forgetting a lunch date isn’t surprising in a world where many of us have outsourced our memory to computers and mobile phones
We were gathered round the table, having a rare, quiet family Sunday lunch, when my phone beeped. I glanced at the screen, and leaped in horror from my seat.
‘‘Bollocks!” I yelled, inelegantly.
My four-year-old looked at me in amazement, As my three-year-old repeated the word ‘‘bollocks’’ in quiet awe.
The message on my phone read:
‘‘Have table. See you all soon.”
I had forgotten that I was supposed to be somewhere else ...
